Pros and cons of Backgammon NJ app for iPhone and iPad

Backgammon NJ app good for

Tried a few apps and this is the best I found. Lots of options & customizations available. Good AI level. And the computer does not cheat: you can even roll a dice on the side and plug the numbers inside the game if you are not sure, thanks to the manual roll option.

I play expert mode every day. Strong play, i win only one of three games but have lots of fun and i ve learned a lot. Must have for every backgammoner.

Pretty much the app I have been looking for. Doing rather well at level MED, now using the hints to improve my playing. To all the people complaining about the dice rolls: Nothing to worry about, the web page explains that very well. You do have to understand, though, that you wont stand a chance against AI in BG :-)

WHAT DID YOU DO? Your new Update didnt migrate my game stats to the new version? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? 5000 rounds played for nothing? All my stats are gone! I hate you!

Addictive, but I like it. Sometimes I wonder if the computer gets better rolls from the dice but that adds to the challenge.

Fun game to pass the time but the program becomes very predictable. Some new computer moves shouldve created!

Some bad moments

Do not bother trying playing against the machine as it will always get 4x5 or 4x6 pretty much all the time...

Rubbish, dont bother. It gets luckiest dice every time and dont like loosing.

Developers should invest more in backgammon strategy than in dice "benevolence"... Computer gets much more favorable numbers than the "unlucky" player...

The reason for that the computer game mostly wins is simply to find in the fact that it knows not only ALL next dice coming but as well that it has a database where all moves are already stored. (like in chess games) If you play like a total idiot you can sometimes win 192 points in one game because you get the engine mixed up, but this is no fun. There is no calculative engine behind it because the moves are much too quick and much too accurate. Fazit: Who likes to get a bad time, no fun but anger, this is the right game for you then. Its the most unrealistic game app I ever saw.

I do win my fair share of games but the rolls the computer gets is just out of this world. A little too obvious that the rolls are "fixed"! Ive seen better games, not worth the money!

One more thing is AI always gets multiple doubles to end the game so you do not complete a backgammon. Cheating is brutal. AI ALWAYS gets the rolls it needs. But if u are on the bar with only one or two openings you will not get that number until the AI has all but two or three pieces left. On hundreds of games, I require over 4 rolls to get off the bar yet the AI gets on in 1.64 rolls on average. NOT right.
