Anytime a games AI has a 50/50 chance of winning, logic dictates that half of the people playing will suspect that the game cheats. So I paid little attention when I read user reviews implying that this game was rigged. Secondly, logic also dictates that anyone creating a rigged app would have to be crazy... Hed be frustrating his paying customers. Not a good business practice. However - and this is where I risk sounding like a conspiracy theorist - this game consistently gets ridiculous rolls against all odds. Now, please understand, I highly appreciate the AI built into this game. However, I cannot say the same of the rolls of the dice. The developer has gone to great lengths to try to prove that this game doesnt cheat. And his arguments seem solid. Yet, after playing hundreds of games (I know, Im a long-suffering fellow who needs to get a life), when I need a specific number on one of the dice, it very rarely shows up. Yet, the AI too consistently rolls the exact number it needs. There are even times where I seem to catch a break, only to see the computer go on some odds-defying tear to rip my heart out. And I havent even touched on the AIs selective rolling of doubles... So many aspects of this game make me want to throw my mobile device out the window in frustration (but Im a long-suffering fellow, remembers?). Save your money, this game is so illogical that even this review defies logic... Save hours of frustration and keep looking... This is a terribly frustrating game. The only reason Ive not deleted it is because I believe my review could be deleted as well. I just wish I could give this app zero stars... One star is one star too many. UPDATE: Found another backgammon game with AI that doesnt consistently roll exactly what it needs... Keep looking, the truth is out there (I dont think reviewers are supposed to direct to other apps in a review so youll have to do some digging).

Solid gameplay with features that allow neophytes to learn proper moves in all kinds of situations.

I have found this to be the best backgammon game for a mobile device. I especially like the way you can review your moves to see if it indeed was the best one. In terms of the AI getting the clutch rolls, well, I thought so too for a while until I realized that I can win more against the AI in hard mode than I can playing against my friends or online vs human opponents. And anyway, do you really want it to be so easy to win? You wont learn if its too easy.

The AI is strong so single player mode is a good challenge and hints can he offered if desired.

Ive played a lot of computers but this one takes the cake for playing one sided. Wish I could give it a -5!!

Im not a pro player. But the computer seems to get a lot of perfect rolls at the correct time.

Says its iPad compatible but its just the zoomed in iPhone version. Had I known I would have opted for the HD version. Why should "HD" be $3 more, anyway?

Tough game at the expert level. Use the hints function to learn to play better.

Best backgammon game Ive tried so far. I dont think the dice roll is just a simple random roll on ai play. It seems to be fixed for ai advantage.

I think this is the most powerful backgammon application for i phone. I have tried other backgammon games but NJ is much better. It is a tough opponent in expert mode. You can review your statistics and error rates. Some improvements still can be made, in my opinion, such as: Setting up a position, recording and downloading games played, for further evaluation, and a rating system for the player..I am sure these will make this application as good as the backgammon programs for PC.

When you play on the hard or expert mode you will definetly notice that the computer rolls exactly what it needs 4 out of 5 times. Especially towards the end of each game.
