Nice but cheats

Good program but too many good shots. I red the explanations about the dices but they are not fully convincing. Deceiving!

i like it but it misses a feature

it is good - the bg app I like the most - but it misses multi level undo. to it would be a good way to improve playing.

Exvcellent app

Really good

FIBS connection

Add that and a couple of difficulty levels.

Improved version, But

This version is a clear improvement over earlier ones. But as many point out the structure of the game operates in a way that over-favors the computer. Still fun to try and out wit the machine. This is definitely doable. That was true several upgrades ago. Now the rolls are clearly programed to favor the computer.

Cant stop playing

Great game, either against the computer or online. Not everyone thinks so, but I think the rolls seem to be random.

Fun But Questionable

Great interface, realistic feel, but I swear it seems to know what rolls are coming next—which, of course, would be cheating.

App is beatable

My rating is now up to 2820 against this app. You just need to figure out the right strategy to offset the dice skewed in the computers favor. If the app writer wants to prove his dice are fair, then he should allow an option in the settings that allows the human to manually roll his own dice and enter the results in the app. Then the only variable would be the computers skill.

Fun but not random

Random generator seems to give exceptional number of doubles. Often greater m than 12 per game. After playing 100s of games, comparing to other generated dice and live rolls, obvious this is an advantage for the computer. Frustrating that there is no real good backgammon game on iOS that cannot generate honest rolls with good AI. Graphics are nice. That is the strength. Do not use this game to learn strategy.

Frustrating & enjoyable

Like other posters, when I first played this game I thought that it seemed the computer always got exactly the rolls it needed everytime. But now that Ive played it more it seems like its about 60/40. Either way I have learned a lot playing it on hard mode. This is the first computer backgammon game Ive ever played so nothing to compare it to. Ive enjoyed it & I think improved my game in real life, so thats why I give it four stars.

Great for learning

The app is improving my skill better than other strategies Ive tried, but I agree with other reviewers that Expert mode seems rigged with too many frustratingly good rolls by the computer!

Rigged

Having played countless years of backgammon and using other apps, I really had hopes for this one. Ive played two games on expert and I can already tell the dice are not fair. Statistically they might be, but the computer sure gets the most unlikely results when they need it the most. Why cant somebody make a game with random rolls and smarter computers, makes no sense to me. Save your $$$

Ridiculous Rolls

Why does everyone say the game gets the most opportune rolls ever seen, constantly leaves blots in harms way and never gets hit, accepts doubles when it is WAY behind and then kicks your butt, rolls three sets of doubles in a row an incredible amount of time? Play it and find out. You too will become a believer. Enough said. I agree it is neural based because they have some nerve even suggesting the dice are random. Update: So after playing for over 2000 games I can safely say Ive gotten very good at one aspect of this app: the New Match button. Ill usually play until it builds its homeboard on what everyone says is the luckiest rolls theyve ever seen and start over. I love the new arguments from the developer and his minions that instead of building a true intelligence into the game they just gave it better rolls. Think about that. Whenever, and whomever youve played against, did they get "luckier" rolls, or did they use their random rolls (the same randomness you experience) to greater advantage because of skill? Intelligence and experience, not luck. So in no way does this app even come close to real play. Now I have to buy a new screen for my iPhone. I wore a hole where the New Match button appears. And my left index finger seems to be developing an arthritic condition …

Incredible rolls

The game consistently gets incredible rolls. And I consistently dont. Theres no way to assess winning rolls based on simple roll stats. The program consistently gets good rolls. And I dont.

Great AI

Seems like it cheats only because it sets itself up so well. Love the hint button so I can learn how to improve my game.

Rock Solid. Thanks for manual dice mode...

Used to be a fan - not so much anymore. Users experience is that the game cheats and developers response is that users are not as good as they think. WRONG. Developer ignores the subjective user experience, which is just bad business. Overall I like the game and have played thousands of games. I think the flaw in AI design is the 4 levels: easy, medium, hard, expert. The only way to pragmatically make these levels appear to act progressively more advanced is to choke or open the competitive advantage granted to the computer (in my opinion). Regardless, the end result is well described by hundreds of users and that is a bias that the game feels as if it has an unrealistic advantage. This can get tiresome. The developer should spend some energy trying to address this common user observation because just as he asserts that his game does not cheat, I would like to assert that all of the users experiences cannot be dismissed either. So I believe there is room for improvement - but I also imagine it would be a tremendously difficult programming problem to solve.

Great Backgammon app

This app doesnt cheat it just plays very good and can teach you a lot. Its got a great interface thats not quirky like its competitor XG. The people behind this BG app keep it running without all the bugs you find in XG. I prefer this app to any other iOS BG app.

Rigged. Totally.

As much as I liked this to be a good app, it is totally frustrating how it rigs the dice. I played a lot and theres no doubt it does. A waste of money and time.

Fraud

The dice while advertised as evenly dispersed are in fact stacked in favor of the computer. When on bar the doubles pour out for the player but more often than not on a full bar. Too funny. Like most of these games this one is a fraud.
